National Capital Vegetarian Association to serve vegan dinner at Centre espoir Sophie

OTTAWA – Volunteers with the National Capital Vegetarian Association (NCVA) will serve a vegan dinner to women at the Centre espoir Sophie this Wednesday evening (Devember 17th). Centre espoir Sophie is a francophone drop-in centre in Ottawa offering a secure and supportive environment to women experiencing difficulties and barriers. Food for the meal has been provided by The Table vegetarian restaurant.
“The NCVA is thrilled to contribute to the community by supporting women at Centre espoir Sophie,” said NCVA board member Corrie Rabbe. “The holiday season is a time for sharing and goodwill and we are pleased to work with Centre espoir Sophie to offer a delicious and healthy vegan meal to marginalized women at this time of year.”
The NCVA advocates compassion, respect and non-violence towards people and animals alike.
“Many vegetarians and vegans choose a plant-based diet out of the desire to do no harm to other living beings,” said Ms. Rabbe. “The NCVA is proud to promote plant-based eating as an important way to show respect for all living creatures, be they fellow humans or of the animal kingdom. Aside from being the most compassionate choice, vegetarian food is healthy and nourishing. We are looking forward to sharing these ideas with women at the Centre espoir Sophie and with others in the Ottawa-Gatineau community.
“We are grateful to Centre espoir Sophie for this opportunity and to The Table for their support.”
